An evening of friendship, memories and celebration at the Civil Service Club in London.
Bermondsey BSAC celebrated its 70th anniversary with an enjoyable evening at the Civil Service Club in London, bringing together current and former members to mark the occasion.
Founded in 1956, the club has seen generations of divers come and go, with countless trips, adventures and friendships made along the way. The anniversary was a good opportunity to look back over the years, catch up with old friends and share a few stories.
It was lovely to see so many familiar faces, with plenty of reminiscing about past diving trips, memorable moments and the occasional mishap! The evening was a reminder that, as much as we all enjoy diving, it’s the people and friendships that have kept the club going for seven decades.
A big thank you to everyone who travelled from near and far to join us. It was particularly nice to see former members, some of whom hadn’t seen each other for years. Having so many people together made the occasion all the more special, and we really appreciate everyone making the effort to come along.
One of the highlights of the evening was a speech from our Equipment Officer, Ross, who shared some of his fondest memories from his time with the club. His recollections of past trips, friendships and experiences struck a chord with many in the room and were a fitting reminder of the good times the club has enjoyed over the years.
We also enjoyed a slideshow put together by Christina, featuring photographs and videos from across the decades. It brought back plenty of memories and was a great way to look back at the people, places and adventures that have been part of the club’s history. Thanks to Christina for taking the time to put it all together.
A special thank you to Christina and Teresa for organising the evening and making sure everything ran smoothly. A lot of work went into the arrangements, and their efforts were much appreciated by everyone who attended.
Thanks also to Joe, who kindly arranged for us to use the Civil Service Club through his membership. It was an excellent venue for the occasion, and we’re grateful to him for making it possible.
And thanks to Fiona for taking photographs throughout the evening, giving us a lovely record of the celebrations and the people who came along.
All in all, it was a very successful evening and a fitting way to mark 70 years of Bermondsey BSAC. It was good to see so many people together, sharing memories and catching up after what, for some, had been quite a few years.
Here’s to 70 years of Bermondsey BSAC, and many more years of diving and friendship to come.
