How to book dives – Please email divelist@bermondsey-bsac.org.uk to reserve a space on a dive. The earlier you do this, the better, as some dives fill up quickly. If a dive is already full, it’s still worth emailing and asking to be put on the reserve list in case someone has to drop out. Booking early also helps the committee decide whether to offer unfilled spaces to people outside the club. Remember to book plenty of dives, in case some get cancelled (“blown out”) due to bad weather. All members are strongly encouraged to do a lake dive before your first sea dive of the year, so you can check you and your kit are in good working order.
Minimum qualification – This is specified for each dive in the “Minimum Grade Required” and is based on how challenging and deep a dive will be. If you have questions about whether you’re able to join a dive, please speak with Ken, our Diving Officer, or one of the full instructors.
Limits on numbers – Most of the dive boats we use can accommodate 12 divers, but some boats (e.g. Buccaneer, based in Shoreham) accommodate 10, and for some dives we may have only booked a few spaces or may be sharing a boat with others, which is why spaces on the dive list are blacked out. For lake trips, numbers are not limited.
Dive costs – The cost of club dives is usually £60 per diver per day (2 dives per day). For some dives, the club may have to charge more or less than £60 per diver per day, for example if accommodation is included. For lake dives an entry fee of around £15 to £20 is usually charged.
Payment – 50% non refundable deposit is required to secure your place. If you book onto the trip we expect that to be paid immediately. Balance due dates vary and will be explained by the dive organiser.
