Pembrokeshire Diving May Bank Holiday Weekend

Waves Shape

A group of us trekked across Wales to get to the Milford Haven with three arriving on the Friday  and two of us arriving later on Saturday.

This was the first year without Brian as the main skipper. He has semi retired but is still around to help out when needed. I can’t fault the new skipper Dave and his assistant Richard from Pembrokeshire Boat Charters  www.pembrokeshireboatcharters.co.uk. They were skilled, calm and friendly and made a very good cup of tea alongside an ample supply of welsh cakes!

It was Spring tides so the currents were quite strong on a few of the dives. We did reef dives on the Saturday and Sunday out near  Skomer  Island and enjoyed watching the puffins and seals during the surface intervals as well as  enjoying the amazing  sunshine.

I had been on a few lake dives this year and had tried to do a day dive from Brighton but sadly all were  blown out so it was great to be back  on a boat and diving again.  The visibility was variable over the weekend but saw sea anemones, dog fish, octopus, lobsters and crabs. Monica was also very privileged to have seen a seahorse. We also dived 2 wrecks on the Monday called the Dakotian and the Behar.

As the weather was so warm we managed to have dinner al fresco on both nights. Chatting about diving and any random topic with fellow divers is all part of the diving experience and I don’t think I realised how much I had missed the whole weekend away diving experience!
